So overall – it’s pretty different than most turmeric supplements, which are liquid and have gelatin pills.

Smarter Curcumin’s pills come as softgels, which makes them easier to swallow.

(But gelatin pills are pretty easy to swallow either way, so this isn’t really an advantage.)

Other than that, this product is indeed effective:

  • relieves the pain pretty well

  • but it also has some cartilage rebuilders

So basically – it looks a 2-in-1 supplement on paper.

However, in reality – it works much better for inflammation than for cartilage issues:

  • relieves pain and swelling really well
  • works pretty fast

On the other hand, it’s weaker for cartilage problems (in my case at least). That’s the main reason why it’s just on this list.

Another problem is its price – for someone with a regular budget, paying $50 for a joint supplement is way too much. I speak from experience here.

  • doesn’t need bioperine
  • uses softgels instead of pills

However – it’s not my favorite supplement in terms of how it works:

  • slower than the previous 3
  • didn’t relieve my pain quite as well

Now – Solgar’s Curcumin is definitely a great product. After all, that’s why it’s on my list.

But considering how much it costs, it’s not the best turmeric supplement ever – in my opinion.

One thing to note: one bottle is enough for 2 months, so the price isn’t that high as it seems. However, you can’t find a 1 month supply, so you have to buy directly the 2 months one.

But even though it looks really effective, in my case it wasn’t that good.

Now – this supplement surely works, but it wasn’t that amazing as the top 3 from my list.

Besides, it’s also a really pricey supplement at almost $50 per bottle.

However, you need to keep in mind that one bottle is meant to last 2 months, so the price doesn’t seem that high anymore.

So overall, it’s a good product if you afford buying it. But it’s surely not my top recommendation.

That’s why I prefer supplements with classic ingredients – they’re less pricey.

Even though it contains a 2 months supply, it’s still quite expensive to buy. Especially if you haven’t tried it out before.

So a monthly supply for a few dollars off would be a better deal – in my opinion.

Most products on the market contain the HCl form – which doesn’t have so many positive studies behind.

This is one of the most surprising supplements I tried.

  • decreased my pain pretty fast 
  • also increased my mobility overall

So basically – Flexcin has a slightly different formula.

It uses classic ingredients combined with an anti-inflammatory substance that I haven’t seen before.

And based on how it worked for me, this combination seems to be a right choice.

However, Flexcin has one major downside – it’s extremely expensive on a monthly basis.

So I personally could not afford it constantly. That’s why it’s not my top recommendation.

2. How It Works: 9 out of 10 – It’s surprisingly effective:

At least in my case, there was no difference for the rest of my body. It was only my knees that got considerably better.

  • very popular

However, I read many reviews similar to my experience – Instaflex worked much better for knee pain than for other kinds of pain.

Plus – it’s one of those pricey supplements, at almost $50 per monthly bottle.

At least in my case, it didn’t improve joint flexibility too much.

2. Cartilage Damage:

  • Appears due to aging or after an injury
  • You didn’t have any joint problem before
  • You have no external sign of pain
  • Your joints are inflexible and very hard to move
  • Your stiffness goes away faster than 45 minutes

So at this point, you should be able to tell what kind of joint pain you have.

Chances are it’s caused by cartilage damage – especially if you’re over 60.

    Hi Olivia, it’s great to hear Turmeric Plus is helping your father’s joint pain and arthritis. You didn’t really mention what kind of arthritis he has – but after your description, it’s probably an inflammatory one. So turmeric is the best choice in this case.

    I want to give him some additional recommendations, in case he needs it (these aren’t any pills or drugs):

    1. When he has a pain flare-up, Cayenne pepper patches work really good. However, I only recommend them on the short term, so in the most painful situations. Otherwise, your dad’s body will start tolerating them so the effect will decrease.

    2. He can also use turmeric externally or add it up in his foods. Here are some ways to use this herb, besides as pills.

    3. Certain foods can increase arthritis flare-ups and inflammation. So he should try to avoid them as much as possible.

    4. Though it’s a great ingredient for arthritis – glucosamine works better for cartilage damage and osteoarthritis. So for inflammation – it doesn’t help so much. So I don’t advise your father to use glucosamine and chondroitin supplements, because they won’t change a lot in his case. Turmeric is the best choice all the time.

    5. Whenever he wakes up with very stiff joints, placing a hot bottle on them for a few minutes should help. The stiffness will go away much faster.

    6. Honey can also help decrease inflammation. Associate it with apple cider vinegar (to make this one taste better) and it can work amazingly on the long term.

    7.Cherry juice is also good for inflammation , but it won’t make wonders on its own.

    8. He can also try massage with essential oils or acupuncture – depending what your father prefers.

    These should really help, in case he needs something else besides the supplements. Hope this helps.

    Hi Santo Domic, I’m sorry to hear about your problem. I’ve been in a similar situation, so I can understand your struggle. So from what I understand, it all started after you hit your knee, right? Did you have any problems (even minor ones) before?

    Your current pain seems to be caused by cartilage damage, which you mentioned it appeared after the surgery. Did you follow any treatment for that problem? My personal opinion is that your cartilage is severely damaged or that you even don’t have any cartilage left in your knee. This could explain the constant and severe pain.

    Now – I usually recommend cartilage re-builders for problems like yours. This includes supplements based on glucosamine + chondroitin (the best combination when it comes to rebuilding cartilages). I insist on recommending products that contain both ingredients because they work much better when used together. Glucosamine does most of the job, but chondroitin increases its effectiveness. That’s why I think it’s essential to get a supplement that contains both.

    Instaflex is a good product, but it only contains glucosamine (combined with other ingredients, but without chondroitin). So this may be the reason why it didn’t help (that’s what I understood from your comment). Also, I found many similar complaints from people with severe knee pain and Instaflex didn’t really help. So this might explain why it’s not helping you. Because in terms of ingredients and producer, it’s a good supplement.

    For this reason, my advice is to try a product that contains both glucosamine (the sulfate form) and chondroitin. The best product of this kind I know is ProJoint Plus, which is also my top recommendation on this list. Considering that it’s also cheaper than most of the other supplements, I think it’s the best choice.

    Still – I cannot guarantee it will help (or not very fast either). In case you have no cartilage left, this kind of supplements may not work very well (they can’t really re-build cartilages from scratch in all cases, but it is possible in some). But if you still have some cartilage left, you should start seeing an improvement in a few months. The more cartilage you have in your knees, the faster it should work.

    Other than the supplement, try using heating pads or hot bottles whenever your knees gets stiff and hard to move. Heat will decrease the stiffness very fast and will increase flexibility on the short term. You should also try staying hydrated, as this can also keep your knees more flexible (though hydration alone won’t change anything in terms of pain).
