My Review: Webber Naturals Glucosamine Chondroitin (With Details)

My Review: Webber Naturals Glucosamine Chondroitin (With Details)

It’s time to review Webber Naturals Glucosamine Chondroitin, which is a pretty simple OA supplement.

When I say “simple”, I’m mostly talking about its ingredients – it only contains 2 classic substances.

However, there’s something else I didn’t like. You can only buy a 100-days supply, which is way too much if you only want to test this supplement out. Because of the high quantity, one bottle is pretty expensive.

So is Webber Natural’s product worth buying, when you have so many options on the market? I tried to dig deep into this product and find out all its good and bad points.

Note: This review is based on my experience with this supplement, so it won’t necessarily agree with other reviews you find. I am not trying to praise/criticize the product or its company, I am simply telling my opinion about it.

So Let’s Get To The Review

Full Name: Glucosamine Chondroitin Sulfate from Webber Naturals

My Review: Webber Naturals Glucosamine Chondroitin (With Details)Quantity : 300 capsules

Best Actual Price: $39.99

Where To Get The Best Price: Ebay, because on Amazon you can only buy a twin package (which I assume you don’t need, if you’re buying it for the first time)

Designed For: Osteoarthritis and cartilage problems. Both glucosamine and chondroitin are cartilage rebuilders, so they work best for joint problems caused by cartilages.

I wouldn’t recommend this supplement for someone with inflammatory pain, because it won’t help too much (there’s no anti-inflammatory herb inside). If that’s your problem, that’s what you should try.

My Rating: 6 out of 7 – if it wasn’t for the 2 ingredients, the rating would be lower

Worth Buying?: Not really. It’s just too simple, in my opinion. It only contains 2 ingredients (which are great in their section), but it lacks an anti-inflammatory. That’s why it didn’t do anything for my pain, despite improving my mobility.

So that’s the #1 problem – if you have OA pain, I don’t know how much it could help. Also, there’s only a 100-days supply, which is pretty expensive. So I wouldn’t buy such a large quantity without having the chance to try it out first.

Other than that, the supplement isn’t bad at all, but it’s just not worth $40, in my opinion.

What I Liked About It

  • Contains glucosamine sulfate, which is the strong form (most supplements don’t)
  • Very high doses for both ingredients
  • The pills are pretty easy to swallow (surprising for glucosamine pills)
  • Improved the shape of my knees for real

What I Didn’t Like About It

  • No MSM or other anti-inflammatory
  • Didn’t relieve any of my pain (because of the lack of anti-inflammatory substances)
  • Only 2 classic ingredients
  • You can only buy a supply for 100 days, which is a lot (especially if you only want to test it out)
  • Pretty expensive at first sight

The Ingredients – Very Simple

I’m a fan of supplements with classic ingredients. They have lots of studies behind and they’re extremely effective, at least in my case. So Webber Naturals’ product really suits my taste, from this point of view.

So let’s take the ingredients by turn (there are only 2):

My Review: Webber Naturals Glucosamine Chondroitin (With Details)

 – Glucosamine Sulfate (500 mg) – this is the best substance for rebuilding cartilages. Because of the sulfur it contains, it can help weakened cartilages and protect them from additional damage.

What I really like is the form of glucosamine – the sulfate. Most supplements contain a weaker form (HCl) just because it’s cheaper, even though it’s not as effective. So I really appreciate products that still use the sulfate form, because it works much better.

 – Chondroitin Sulfate (400 mg) – chondroitin also rebuilds damaged cartilages, but it does one additional thing. It increases the power of glucosamine. That’s the reason why you could see these 2 ingredients together a lot of times.

Unfortunately, a lot of brands started to give up chondroitin (though I don’t really understand the reason). Glucosamine works a lot better when combined with it, so that’s the reason why I always recommend supplements that have both.

2 Conclusions On The Ingredients

#1 – Doses Are Actually Higher

Webber Naturals’ product has a different way to state the daily dose.

If you look on the label, one capsule contains 500 mg glucosamine and 400 mg chondroitin. So this is actually the dose per capsule, not per day.

That’s because you have to take 3 capsules daily, which means that the real dose is triple – 1500 mg glucosamine + 1200 mg chondroitin. These are very high doses, compared to most supplements.

#2 – No Anti-Inflammatory

This product is designed for osteoarthritis, which isn’t really caused by inflammation. However, inflammation does exist even in OA, but it’s not a major one.

That’s why most glucosamine products also contain at least one anti-inflammatory (MSM, turmeric, Boswellia, etc.). And that’s the #1 problem of Webber Naturals’ supplement – the anti-inflammatory is missing.

Glucosamine and chondroitin have nothing to do with inflammation, they only rebuild and protect cartilages. So an anti-inflammatory would help tremendously, even if it had a low dose.

My Experience With This Supplement

My Background: So I was suffering from OA in both of my knees. The pain was bearable, but I had big problems with flexibility. Since my problems came up, I had a hard time moving around as I did before.

My Review: Webber Naturals Glucosamine Chondroitin (With Details)

This supplement didn’t have any anti-inflammatory, so it probably couldn’t relieve my pain. But as it had glucosamine and chondroitin, maybe it could improve my knees’ mobility.

How It Worked: The pills were pretty easy to swallow, and they did work. But not in every chapter:

  •  Flexibility – they really helped

A few weeks after I started taking this product, my knees started to feel stronger and easier to move. There was no overnight change, but I was feeling better day after day. So I have to admit that it really works.

  • Pain – no real change

As I somehow expected, the pain was still there, at the same level. Why did I say that I expected that? Because of the ingredients.

There’s nothing for inflammation in these pills, and the pain is usually caused by inflammation. So that’s why the pain didn’t decrease. It really makes sense.

And I personally don’t think this supplement could decrease OA pain, for this very reason.

My Conclusion: The pills do help in terms of improving flexibility and decreasing the stiffness. From this point of view, I recommend this product. But in terms of relieving pain, it was pretty useless. As there’s no MSM or anti-inflammatory herb, it can’t really help the pain.

So it depends what you need it for, because it’s not a product that can help both. At least that’s what I think, judging after its ingredients.

PRO#1  – Glucosamine Sulfate

There are basically 2 forms of glucosamine on the market – sulfate and hydrochloride. Most brands use the HCl and only a few use the sulfate.

Webber Naturals’ supplement uses the sulfate, which is a great thing. I only recommend products with this form, and here’s why:

  • Effectiveness – the sulfate works much better, because of the sulfur it contains (that’s the substance that rebuilds cartilages)
  • Studies – the sulfate has lots of studies behind, while the HCl doesn’t (there are some, but the results aren’t positive)
  • Price – the sulfate alone is a lot more expensive than the HCl, which can tell a lot (but sulfate supplements aren’t more expensive)
  • Experience – I never had great results from supplements with glucosamine HCl, but the sulfate worked much better

However, most people don’t know all these differences. For this reason, I advise you to buy supplements that have glucosamine sulfate, not HCl. There’s no difference in price.

PRO #2 – High Doses

It may not have lots of ingredients, but Webber Naturals’ product has great doses. I’m talking about both glucosamine and chondroitin, as these are the only ingredients.

As I mentioned before, the label is a bit tricky. It shows the dose per capsule, not per serving. We are all used to read the daily dose, because that’s how most supplements mention it. Well, in this case, you have to pay a bit of attention.

So the daily doses are 1500 mg glucosamine and 1200 mg of chondroitin. Considering there’s the good form of glucosamine (sulfate), this dose is great.

The quantity of chondroitin is also very high, compared to most products. So regarding just these 2 ingredients, Webber Naturals’ product looks great.

CON #1 – No MSM

In my opinion, the biggest downside of this supplement is the fact that it doesn’t have any anti-inflammatory.

It’s true that osteoarthritis isn’t really an inflammatory condition – it’s the cartilage damage that’s causing it. However, there exists some inflammation, and that’s where the pain comes from

So even if you rebuild the cartilages (what glucosamine and chondroitin do), the pain may still not go away. That’s because the inflammation is still there.

So what should these pills contain, besides the 2 ingredients? MSM, but that’s not a must. They basically need any anti-inflammatory:

  • Turmeric is the strongest, and my #1 recommendation for inflammation
  • Boswellia is also very popular
  • White Willow Bark exists in a lot of supplements

If any of these herbs was inside the pills, they would work much better. That’s what I think.

CON #2 – Only 2 Ingredients

This supplement doesn’t shine when it comes to ingredients. At least when you look at what there is on the market.

I’m talking mainly about the number of ingredients.

Now you may ask me – why is this a bad thing? If it contains the right substances, why is this a downside?

Well, some other supplements contain these right substances too. Their doses are just as high, plus they also have some additional ingredients.

So in my opinion, a supplement with 2 ingredients can’t be the best choice on the market. That even though those 2 ingredients are great, really effective and in high doses. It just can’t be.

At this point, there are just so many options on the market, that I couldn’t recommend a product with only 2 classic ingredients. So in my opinion, the company should work more at this chapter and bring some additional ingredients. That would surely make it better.

CON #3 – No Monthly Supply

I don’t necessarily have a problem with the price. At $40, it’s not the priciest supplement I’ve ever seen.

My problem is about the number of pills from one bottle. There are 300, which is enough for 100 days.

Now, that doesn’t seem bad at all. But why should you pay $40 to get 100 capsules from a supplement you only want to test out? Why don’t they offer a 30 days bottle for $20?

That would be way better, because you could pay a decent price, see if it works and then buy a larger package if it does. I just don’t think it’s fair to pay for 100 days for something that may not even work…

So that’s the real downside when it comes to price. For 300 capsules, $40 isn’t even a lot. But what if they don’t work? You’ve wasted these money in vain.

My Final Verdict – Is It Worth Buying?

Short answer: Not really. It only contains 2 classic ingredients, which are great in what they do. But they’re just not enough to control and decrease the pain, in my opinion.

This supplement did improve my flexibility and the shape of my knees. But it didn’t do anything for my pain (which wasn’t even very serious). That’s because it doesn’t contain any inflammatory, which was essential if you ask me.

Besides, you can’t find a monthly supply. Instead, you have to buy the 100-days version, which is pretty pricey. So that’s something I really didn’t like.

Would I recommend it?: No. You can get something much better in terms of ingredients and effectiveness. Besides, you wouldn’t have to pay so much money. Or I should rather say, you have the chance to buy a smaller size instead of ordering a large package.

Now, it’s up to you what you decide. But I personally would not buy this supplement, because it’s simply not worth it.
