My Kyolic Curcumin Review – My Personal Opinion

My Kyolic Curcumin Review - My Personal Opinion

It’s time for my Kyolic Curcumin review, a supplement that gave me one impression – average. It doesn’t seem very weak, but it didn’t catch my eye with anything either.

The only advantage I could find is the fact that it contains Meriva Curcumin. Also, it doesn’t cost a lot, but there’s one thing worth mentioning – one bottle lasts less than 1 month. So I think it’s a bit more expensive overall.

So is this product worth buying? Does the Meriva Curcumin inside make it better than the rest? I tried to dig deep into this supplement, and here’s what I found out. PS: Both positive and negative things.

Note: This review is based on my own opinion about this supplement, so it won’t necessarily agree with other reviews you find. I am not trying to praise/criticize the product or its company, I am simply telling how it looks to me.

So Let’s Get To The Review

Full Name: Aged Garlic Extract With Curcumin from Kyolic

My Kyolic Curcumin Review - My Personal OpinionQuantity : 50 capsules the one I reviewed, but you can also find the 100 and 150 versions

Best Actual Price: $19.82

Cheapest Place To Buy: Ebay or Amazon, depending on what price you find. Amazon is probably better if you live in the US

Designed For: Inflammation and chronic pain. Turmeric is the best remedy I know for inflammation, and I’m only talking from experience. But I’m talking about turmeric in general, not about this supplement (I’ll tell you later why).

So I wouldn’t recommend this supplement for someone with osteoarthritis or cartilage damage. These problems aren’t caused by inflammation, so it just wouldn’t help. If this is your problem, I recommend you this product.

My Rating: 6 out of 10

Worth Buying?: Not really. It’s not bad, but it’s pretty basic. It contains a good form of curcumin and that’s pretty much it. No other important ingredient. There are no curcuminoides and no bioperine, which are essential for inflammation.

So it’s not a bad product, but it’s quite limited, in my opinion. That’s why I don’t recommend it – if you really want a turmeric supplement, I advise you to get something with curcuminoides and bioperine.

What I Liked About It

  • Contains Meriva Curcumin, which is one of the best forms of curcumin on the market
  • The dose of curcumin is pretty good
  • Quite affordable

What I Didn’t Like About It

  • Basically there’s only the Meriva Curcumin that can help with inflammation (I’ll tell you more about the garlic extract and why I don’t like it below)
  • No curcuminoides
  • One bottle only lasts for 25 days
  • Supplements with Meriva Curcumin never work really well in my case
  • No bioperine (but I’m not sure if it’s necessary here or not)

The Ingredients – Not The Usual Stuff

That’s probably the most important chapter in any supplement. And Kyolic’s curcumin doesn’t contain the regular stuff you see in every product. But that doesn’t mean it’s really awesome.

My Kyolic Curcumin Review - My Personal OpinionIt only contains 2 ingredients:

 – Meriva Turmeric Complex (1000 mg) – this is a very good form of turmeric, because it’s considered one of the most pure on the market. I’m personally not a big fan of it, because it doesn’t work really well for my body (compared to regular curcumin).

Some sources say that it has a better absorption than regular curcumin, but I kind of doubt that. Why? I know a lot of Meriva curcumin supplements that also use bioperine (which is meant to increase absorption). If Meriva curcumin had a superior absorption, why would it need bioperine? That’s what I’m wondering.

 – Aged Garlic Extract Powder (300 mg) – it’s the first time I see this ingredient combined with turmeric, so I had to get informed about it. From what I found out, it’s an antioxidant. This means that it reduces the damage caused by oxidative stress and it protects the joints.

In my opinion, that’s not something essential for inflammation. So I don’t consider this garlic extract very important. It has some other benefits, but none of them is related to joint pain.

Conclusion: Nothing very impressive, in my opinion. The Meriva Turmeric is good, but I never had great results from it. There’s no bioperine (I don’t know if it’s essential here) and the garlic extract doesn’t have much to do with inflammation. So the ingredients are okay, but they’re not something I can praise.

How This Supplement Works

My Kyolic Curcumin Review - My Personal OpinionNow, I haven’t tried this supplement myself but I’ve tried a few others that had almost the same ingredients. Yes, none of them contained the Garlic Extract, but that’s not an important ingredient for inflammation. So I’m sure the pills would work the same with or without it.

It’s the Meriva Curcumin that matters in this pills. And I personally never reacted amazingly to it. I mean, it just didn’t help a lot.

I know it’s a good extract in terms of purity, but it never relieves my pain completely. That’s why I prefer products with regular curcumin and curcuminoides (which this supplement doesn’t have).

Other than that, I have found both positive and negative opinions about this product. Some claimed it helped their pain, while others said it was like not taking anything. So just like with every supplement, opinions are really divided.

My Verdict: I never had great results from supplements with Meriva Curcumin. Kyolic’s product doesn’t contain any other major ingredient, so it’s not the kind of supplement I would recommend.

Supplements with only one ingredient never worked for me. One substance wasn’t enough to decrease my pain and swelling completely. Even if it was the Meriva Curcumin. So I’m only saying that from experience.

PRO #1 – Good Dose Of Meriva Turmeric

That’s one of the few things I really appreciate about this supplement.

As I said, Meriva is a pretty pure form of turmeric, so you won’t see this ingredient in huge doses. Kyolic’s pills contain 1000 mg per serving, which isn’t a lot but it’s enough.

An average turmeric supplement contains about 1000-1500 mg per serving. However, most of them don’t use such a pure form as Kyolic’s product. Some do, but to be honest, most don’t. So Kyolic’s product could have a slight advantage at this chapter.

I’m pretty disappointed by the fact that it doesn’t contain anything else (except that garlic extract), but that’s another story. When it comes to the dose of turmeric, I have nothing to criticize.

PRO #2 – Decent Price

Just because it’s pretty famous, Meriva Curcumin tends to be more expensive. That’s what I noticed. Not that it was better, it’s just because of the brand.

I’ve seen a few supplements that didn’t contain anything special besides this form of curcumin, but they cost around $30 per bottle. That’s not very fair, in my opinion. That supplement may not be better than the rest, but it costs so much just for having a brand ingredient.

However, Kyolic’s curcumin seems to be the exception. The best price I found was about $20 per bottle, which is pretty affordable, if you ask me.

Yes, one bottle only lasts for 25 days, which is a downside. But that’s another story. For a supplement with Meriva curcumin, it has a really decent price.

CON #1 – No Curcuminoides

The garlic extract doesn’t have any benefit for inflammation, according to what I read. So the only thing inside these pills is Meriva Turmeric Extract. That’s actually Meriva Curcumin.

Now, I don’t meant to criticize this ingredient, but I believe it’s way too little to help. I mean, I never get a big improvement from supplements that contain only turmeric or curcumin. That’s why curcumin extract is essential.

So let me explain.

Curcumin = turmeric extract. It has a better effect in inflammation than turmeric itself. Kyolic’s supplement contains Meriva Turmeric Extract, which is actually Meriva Curcumin.

However, there’s also the extract from curcumin. That’s actually the extract of the extract. If you ever heard about “curcuminoides”, that’s what it is – the curcumin extract.

So curcuminoides = curcumin extract. This is the best ingredient from any turmeric supplement, because it has a great anti-inflammatory power. Compared to turmeric or curcumin, it’s much stronger.

But unfortunately, Kyolic’s supplement doesn’t contain any curcuminoides. This is a big downside, in my opinion, because it could have a much better effect. The Mervia Curcumin is indeed good, but it can’t compensate.

CON #2 – Doesn’t Last 1 Month

I have to admit that this supplement managed to trick me at this chapter. That’s why you should pay more attention if you decide to buy it.

In most turmeric supplements, one bottle lasts for 30 days. So the price you see is available for one month. However, Kyolic’s product isn’t really there.

According to the label, there are 50 capsules inside. One serving is 2 pills, so you have to take 2 per day. This means that one bottle would only last for 25 days. That’s a bit awkward, if you ask me.

But what really tricked me is the fact that you can’t see that anywhere. Most supplements mention the number of servings per bottle. Well, Kyolic’s supplement doesn’t.

The label only mentions that you have to take 2 pills per day. It lets you do the calculation and see how long one bottle should last.

So instead of paying $20 per month, you would have to pay about $25 and rebuy it every 3 weeks. That’s something I didn’t really like. They could at least mention that. Instead, they let you run out of pills just because you didn’t calculate how long it should last.

That kind of disappointed me.

CON #3 – No Bioperine

I’m not sure if this is a real problem of this supplement, but that’s how it seems to me.

So according to what I read about Meriva Curcumin, it has a better absorption than regular curcumin. That’s because of the technology the brand used – I won’t get into any details because don’t know a lot about this topic.

Now, regular curcumin needs bioperine for a better absorption. But what about Meriva Curcumin? It claims to have a better absorption alone, so it normally shouldn’t need anything else.

So I tried to find out the answer, but I couldn’t find anything about this topic.

However, I know lots of supplements with Meriva Curcumin that contain bioperine. They even mentione that on their label, so this makes me think that bioperine is still necessary, even for Meriva Curcumin.

In this case, Kyolic’s product may have a downside at this chapter. If anyone has a clear answer to this, please let me know. But at this point, I personally believe that bioperine is necessary even for Meriva Curcumin. So that could be a problem for this supplement.

My Final Verdict – Is It Worth Buying?

Short answer: Not really. It’s not a bad supplement, but it’s simply not better than most. It basically contains only Meriva Curcumin, which is good, but it can’t do all alone. There are no curcuminoides, which are essential if you ask me.

The price is pretty good, but keep in mind that one bottle only lasts for 25 days. So it’s not such a great deal.

Besides, I found enough negative reviews about it, so there are lots of unsatisfied people.

As I said, it’s definitely not a scam. But it’s simply not the best thing you can buy at this price. My advice is to choose something with curcuminoides and bioperine, because these are the ingredients that can make the difference.

Other than that, I can only recommend you what worked best for you and the rest is up to you.
