My Review: Me First Living’s Premium Turmeric Curcumin

It’s time to review the Me First Living Premium Turmeric Curcumin, a supplement with a very promising name.

But it’s not only the name that sounds promising. It has really good ingredients at first sight and a lot of authentic reviews. However, the price is a bit too high, in my opinion.

So can this product cure the pain? Is it worth the money, despite costing more than the average? Let me tell you about my 4 weeks with it.

Note: I tried this supplement myself so this review is based only on my experience with it, nothing else

So Let’s Get To The Review

My Review: Me First Living's Premium Turmeric CurcuminFull Name: Premium Turmeric Curcumin from Me First Living

Quantity : 60 tablets

Best Actual Price: $26.95

Where I Bought It From: Ebay, but you can also find it on Amazon

Worth Buying?: If you have a big budget, it could be. But in my case, it was a bit overpriced for what it did. It’s not a scam, but it didn’t relieve my pain as well as it should and I also suffered from a side effect

My Rating: 5.50 out of 10

What I Liked About It

  • Really good ingredients in high doses
  • Available in lots of stores

What I Didn’t Like About It

  • Didn’t decrease my pain as well as it should, considering its great ingredients (from 7 to 5 on the pain scale)
  • It produced me diarrhea from the first days, but it was getting worse with every week
  • Too expensive for what it does
  • Works pretty slow, compared to other products

1. Ingredients (9.50 out of 10)

My Review: Me First Living's Premium Turmeric CurcuminIf you take a look at this supplement’s description on every website, you will notice that ingredients are their #1 praise. They basically put something about ingredients in every paragraph.

So at first sight, that would mean there are really good ingredients inside. But is it really so? Let’s take a look at each of them:

Turmeric Root Extract with 95% Curcuminoides (1000 mg) – this is basically a combination between turmeric powder and curcuminoides. In most supplements, these 2 ingredients come separately.

I personally love curcuminoides because they work much better in inflammation than turmeric itself. That’s why most supplements use between 50-150 mg per serving. I would have liked to know the exact quantity of curcuminoides from this supplement too, so this is my only reproach at this point.

Bioperine (10 mg) – this substance is so essential for turmeric products because it increases their absorption with up to 2000%. If there’s no bioperine, your body will absorb only little turmeric. And unfortunately, most supplements don’t use it. Those 10 mg from these pills are the perfect dose.

Overall, the ingredients aren’t bad at all. There’s only one thing I’m not satisfied about. They don’t mention the exact quantity of turmeric powder and the one of curcuminoides. Yes, I do understand it’s a combination, but I would have liked to know exactly.

Because in most cases, the per cents are exaggerated. But other than that, the ingredient list looks great.

2. Effectiveness (7 out of 10)

While trying out this supplement, I can’t say it didn’t do its job. However, it didn’t work amazingly either

Overall, it decreased my pain from a 7 to a 5 in 3 weeks, which isn’t very bad. In the first 2 weeks I didn’t notice any big improvement, but things changed afterwards.

I took the pills for 4 weeks, until my bottle ran out. There was no point buying another one, because at that price it wasn’t really worth it. I had some cheaper turmeric pills that relieved my pain much better.

So overall, I can’t say this supplement doesn’t work. But it doesn’t work as well as it ingredients would suggest. At least in my case, it didn’t. But I will tell you my whole story with this supplement, so I won’t enter any details right now.

Besides, there’s another reason why I didn’t give it a higher mark at this chapter. Normally, I might have given it an 8 but there was one thing I didn’t like:

3. Adverse Effects (5 out of 10) – Diarrhea

It’s hard to believe, but this supplement gave me a terrible diarrhea. It appeared right from the start, so I realized immediately it was because of these pills.

It got worse as my pain decreased, so after one month it was really bad. Compared to the first days, I could barely take it now. Fortunately, my bottle ran out at that point so I was forced to stop the treatment. Otherwise, I don’t think I would have been able to continue it for long.

That was pretty surprising because my body was used to curcumin and turmeric pills. So the last thing I expected would be to get a side effect. Besides, I always took one pill at a time, instead of taking them both together (as some people do).

But when it comes to side effects, I was definitely not satisfied with this supplement. I’m so familiar with turmeric, so if I got this side effect, probably a lot more people will. Especially if they haven’t taken any turmeric or curcumin before.

So I don’t really advise you to begin with this supplement. I say this more as a warning and you don’t necessarily have to agree with me. But that’s simply my conclusion about this product.

My First 2 Weeks With This Supplement

What I Bought It For: As you may know, I have both RA and a secondary OA in my knees, that appeared afterwards. But I basically use turmeric supplements for RA and glucosamine ones for OA.

There’s inflammation in RA and turmeric is the best anti-inflammatory I know, so it makes sense. Therefore, it was my RA that I wanted to treat with this supplement.

My pain was about a 7 on the pain scale, with often flare-ups especially in my hands.

Week 1: I was taking 2 pills from this supplement after the meal. I didn’t notice much change in the first days, but I did get an easy diarrhea. I was thinking it was because of these pills, but I decided to go on with the treatment because it didn’t bother me that much.

Week 2: My general condition was pretty much improving. I was simply feeling less tired overall, I wasn’t that angry all the time and I felt like I had a lot more energy.

My pain was also getting a bit better, and by this I mean that my flare-ups had decreased. Before, I would have a flare-up every 2-3 days, depending on how much I rest the previous day. Well, in the second week, I had one maybe once a week.

The level of my pain had no decreased, though. I was still around a 6.5-7, but at least it didn’t get any worse. Also, what’s interesting is that my diarrhea continued, without getting worse.

One Month Results

Week 3: Things seemed to get better with my pain as well. My flare-ups were still once a week, but the level of my pain was getting lower now. In the third week, I got to about a 5, which was a big change.

But it was really shocking that I had to wait 3 weeks to get that improvement. Considering this supplement has really promising ingredients, I expected it to work better in 3 weeks.

However, that was it with the good news. As my pain decreased, my diarrhea increased. I didn’t have any stomach pain, nausea, vomiting or anything. It was simply this diarrhea. I was convinced it was because of the pills, but I didn’t understand why. It wasn’t the first time I took turmeric, on the contrary. I was very used to it.

Week 4: I only had enough pills for one more week, so I had to see the final effect of these pills.

My pain continued to decrease a little, but not as much as in the third week. On Saturday my pain was about a 5 and I only had 2 pills left for Sunday. However, it was also my diarrhea that was getting worse. I also started getting stomach pain, and I knew it was the pills causing it.

After taking the pill on Sunday night, I decided that was it. My bottle was also over, so I wasn’t going to buy another one just to get that relief combined with diarrhea.

My Conclusions After The Treatment

So after one month of taking the pills, I think I had made a pretty good idea about this supplement and about what it can do. That was in my case, but I think it’s available for others as well. So here’s what I can say about it.

Conclusion #1It does relieve some of the pain, but not all. I can’t say this supplement didn’t work, because it decreased my pain visibly enough. But I wished it had done more.

Going from 7 to 5 is an improvement, but for a supplement of this value (and money), I would have expected more, to be honest.

Conclusion #2You will probably experience diarrhea. Don’t take that as a downside, take it as a warning. My body is used with turmeric supplements, and I experienced this problem very rarely (only when I took a higher dose on purpose). That’s why I believe it’s very likely that everyone experiences this side effect.

I was very surprised to see I had diarrhea only after a few days since I started it. But as I said, it didn’t bother me at the beginning. It started getting worse as my pain started decreasing.

Conclusion #3 – It’s pretty slow. I needed 2 weeks to notice an improvement in my pain, which isn’t that impressive. At least not for a supplement of this price and ingredients. So I don’t think it could work faster than that, considering it needed another extra week to work better.

Why It Caused Diarrhea? My Theory

My Review: Me First Living's Premium Turmeric CurcuminAs I said before, my body is so used to high doses of turmeric. That’s why I have no idea how these pills could cause me a serious adverse effect.

But as I kept thinking about this, one possible answer crossed my mind. I believe it’s the large quantity of curcuminoides behind.

Just think about it: most supplement contain between 50 and 150 mg. In my previous experiences, a supplement that had 100 mg would help me tremendously. One with 150 mg was great too, but not as good as the other one. Why? I guess the dose was a bit too high.

However, keep this in mind. I have a bad form of RA, so the products that work for a normal pain are too weak for me. But 100 mg of curcuminoides was enough even for my chronic 7 pain.

So I don’t know the exact number of curcuminoides inside these pills, but it’s probably higher than 200 mg. That’s why I believe I got that diarrhea, and that’s why I think it’s a too high dose.

You don’t have to agree with me, but judging after what happened in my case, I’m pretty sure that’s the problem. 1000 mg of extract is a bit too much and can lead to adverse effects much easier.

It’s A Bit Expensive, If You Ask Me

Though this supplement does relieve the pain, I think it’s a bit overpriced for what it offers. That’s how I see things, at least.

You are indeed getting 1000 mg of turmeric extract and 10 mg of bioperine. From this point of view, I don’t think the price is that high. But considering how it works, I think it could be $5 cheaper.

If I didn’t have another alternative, I may have agreed with this price. After all, this supplement isn’t bad at all. But if I can get another supplements that relieves my pain completely for only $22, then I can’t agree with this price.

So in my opinion, it’s an overpriced product for what it does. I have a better alternative that happens to be cheaper, so I’m going to choose that one instead.

Therefore, I’m not going to buy this supplement again. It gave me bad diarrhea and didn’t relieve my pain as well as it should, but I know an alternative that does everything better for a lower price. So what should I buy? The last one, obviously.

My Final Verdict – Is It Worth Buying?

Short answer: If you don’t care about the money, it is worth trying. But pay attention to the side effects.

My Answer: I personally am not going to buy it again, no matter what. For me, it wasn’t as good as I thought at first sight. It does have great ingredients and relieves some of the pain, but in my case, it wasn’t enough. Going from a 7 to a 5 may sound good, but it’s not that good on the long term.

That especially if I can find something better for less money.

Besides, I had a hard time with diarrhea during my whole treatment, and it was really bothering me at the end. So I believe these money are worth something better. This supplement wasn’t worth it for me. So for now, I will get back to my regular alternative, the supplement that works best in my case.
